THE CHRIST CUSP

The aspect of service is one of the most profound and important, and truly spiritual in all of creation, but it is overlooked in this me-first society, and so is rarely glorified. However, as we will see, as we move toward the CUSP OF LIBRA, we will find many a story of a CHRIST-LIKE figure who is combining the SERVICE of VIRGO with WITH BALANCE AND LEADERSHIP of LIBRA.

VIRGO is the Harvest season so it’s known as the “house of bread” as it is the culmination of summer, and food is service to the people as it is a manifestation of the EARTH. It is the feeding the multitudes with BREAD and then later with fish in PISCES. Bethlehem is actually two Hebrew words, pronounced bayth leh’-khem “bayth” is literally “house”, and “leh’-khem” is literally “bread”. Thus “Bethlehem” is literally means “house of bread.” or VIRGO. That Jesus comes from a VIRGIN is because it is the constellation of VIRGO that is always depicted as holding either a sheaf of wheat or an ear of corn, as she represents harvest time and service. Just as Jesus is in SERVICE TO THE WORLD.

As we get to the CUSP of LIBRA, we find an abundance of CHRIST FIGURES, because when we remove the weights from the symbolic scales of Libra, a cross is revealed that also brings with it, an aspect of social justice, leadership and law that are associated with LIBRA.

And LIBRA initiates fall because it is the balance of the seasons and is the CROSS, as the Sun CROSSES the equinox. The Sun rises exactly due East on the Autumnal Equinox, September 23 and also sets directly due west on this day. The Sun crosses the equinox, it is crossified, as the days get shorter and shorter. Thus the CHRIST CUSP and KARMA as KARMA is the LAW of CREATION…LIBRA

Hermetic wisdom tells us that everything has is determined outcome because of the law. It is the ultimate unseen BALANCE that LIBRA seeks to reveal in body and mind. This along with the SERVICE of VIRGO creates a special CHRIST ARCHETYPE that is revealed over and over again on film…the Christ Cusp…the CUSP OF SERVICE AND BALANCE.

Certainly if we look at the origins of Superman they reveal a Christ-like figure who comes to Earth to save humanity. Ultimately, it is the story of Moses who was set adrift only to ultimately become a prophet. And so it’s not surprising that the originally theatrical man of steel Christopher Reeves was a LIBRA (Sept. 25th) ruled by VENUS, who is on the CUSP of VIRGO. He is handsome, athletic, brave, seeks balance and fairness, law and justice. and is the acrobat of the zodiac who’s comfortable in air….all LIBRA qualities that he possesses as Superman. As Clark Kent he is acquiescent, dependable, thorough and not brave or the leader type. In other words, he’s a VIRGO. So we find the defining SUPERMAN on the CHRIST CUSP of LIBRA and VIRGO. Once again the theme of his astrology being TORN BETWEEN TWO WORLDS and two signs. And perhaps it’s a bit of stretch but Reeves being born on this cusp, its as if SUPERMAN is born from Clark Kent every time he emerges. Alas, BEING BORN OF A VIRGIN. True balance becomes service. And as a side note, it’s not surprising that the one woman on Earth that he falls for is also a LIBRAN/Margo Kidder in SUPERMAN. LIBRA is the narcissist, so of course they would fall in love with their own reflection.

This archetype is universal. It is found in savior Luke Skywalker-Mark Hamill (September 25th) in STARWARS, Will Smith (September 25th) in THE LEGEND OF BAGGER VANCE, I AM LEGEND and SEVEN POUNDS, Linda Hamilton (September 26th) in THE TERMINATOR, Jim Caviezel (September 26th) in THE PASSION OF THE CHRIST and THE COUNT OF MONTE CRISTO with additional LIBRAS Guy Pierce (Oct. 5th) and Richard Harris (Oct. 1st) and VIRGO Luis Guzman, Bill Murray (September 21st) in GROUNDHOG’S DAY. These all being CHOSEN ONE or CHRIST-LIKE characters.

Then the tradition lives on on both sides of the cusp in VIRGO and LIBRA. VIRGO/Keanu Reeves in THE MATRIX which was written with Will Smith in mind for the character — LITTLE BUDDHA, and even BILL AND TED’S EXCELLENT ADVENTURE where he and spiritual leader sign CANCER/Alex Winter become would-be “whoa dude” saviors in service to humanity. CANCER also being a sign of spiritual leadership. We find VIRGO/Peter Sellers as the would-be CHRIST FIGURE Chance Gardener in BEING THERE.

On the LIBRA side there is christ figure Tim Robbins in THE SHAWSHANK REDEMPTION, who not only is LIBRA, but has VIRGO RISING, (people see him as VIRGO), and the story was written by VIRGO/LIBRA CUSP Stephan King who shares a birthday with Bill Murray. Also of note here is that the original title of the novella was Rita Hayworth And The Shawshank Redemption. Hayworth was also a LIBRA and the other poster in Andy’s (Robbin’s) cell was that of VIRGO/Rachel Welch. Bringing the cusp together with two images.

LIBRA/Charlton Heston played CHRIST figures his whole career… THE TEN COMMANDMENTS, THE PLANET OF THE APES where he metaphorically comes from heaven as part of a trinity to save mankind, and of course THE OMEGA MAN in the role that was reprised by LIBRA/VIRGO CUSP/Will Smith in I AM LEGEND. Not surprisingly Heston had MERCURY (How someone communicates) and MARS (How someone is in work) in VIRGO. He played VIRGO/LIBRA characters.

We find the CHRIST KING and VIRGO/LIBRA service in THE LORD OF THE RINGS, with LIBRA/SCORPIO CUSP/Viggo Mortensen and VIRGO/LIBRA CUSP/David Wenham who shares a birthday with Sephen King and Bill Murray and crosses over to SERVICE in the middle of the film.

The CHRIST of the airwaves was LIBRA/Peter Finch in the classic film NETWORK, and in ROGUE ONE: A STAR WARS STORY the LIBRA/VIRGO torch is passed from LIBRA/VIRGO/Mark Hamill to LIBRA/Felicity Jones who has also has her MARS in VIRGO as well as her VENUS.

And finally, in the film POWDER, LIBRA/Sean Patrick Flanery plays a an electric CHRIST-like character who is too good for this world. His only real friend in this film is LIBRA/SCORPIO CUSP/Jeff Goldblum. Even LIBRA/Paul Hogan in the Crocodile Dundee franchise has him as some sort of a mystical character that cheats death and walks on water in the form of people’s heads in a New York subway.

All these films have two things in common, Christ figures and LIBRA/VIRGO. Coincidence? I don’t think so. They are all covered more extensively in my book MOVIE STARS where we also find a smaller amount of PISCES SAVIOR archetypes as this is a sign whose compassion and understanding of unity makes it a natural savior, but without the accompanying leadership quality of LIBRA. We also occasionally see LIBRAS opposite sign ARIES in mildly similar roles, CHRIST LIKE but generally much more aggressive. HIGHLANDER, HOLY MAN and THE DEAD ZONE to name a few. Of course THE DEAD ZONE was also written by VIRGO/LIBRA CUSP/Stephen King.
